Hamid Hayat is a free man

Dennis Riordan is a wonderful appellate lawyer.  He got Hamid Hayat out of jail.  Whereas, back in 2006, Hamid Hayat was sentenced for 39 years--the incarceration had to end in 2045--he was released in August 2019 (after spending 13 years in jail); high praise for Riordan for successfully appealing the original sentence!  I had been wanting to see Hamid Hayat from the day he was released but did not get a chance to go to Lodi.  Yesterday, I finally made it there.  Unfortunately, Hamid Hayat got sick and we could not meet.  I met his cousin, Usama Ismail, and we chatted for several hours.  I had a brief conversation with Hamid on the phone and he promised to see me when I am in Lodi the next time.
